What makes commercial bills different

Commercial and small-business tariffs often carry demand (kW) or time-of-use components that a residential slab structure doesn't have. A business can end up with a moderate total kWh for the month and still see a large bill, driven mostly by a short evening peak in demand.

Solar generation peaks around midday. Commercial load frequently peaks later — early evening for a shop, late afternoon for an office winding down — so the two curves don't line up as neatly as they do for a household that runs its AC through the afternoon.

Sizing for tariff shape

A sizing study worth trusting starts from interval load data where it exists, layers the actual tariff windows on top, and only then proposes an inverter configuration. Size the array to the tariff shape, not the other way around — oversizing without checking the load curve first tends to waste export capacity that's worth less than self-consumption anyway.
